As We Serve Him

Episode Summary

In this tumultuous time, we as God's people are called for the Gospel Ministry. In today's message we will learn how we can be effective in our calling.

Episode Notes

Luke 4:18-19

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good newsto the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Gospel Ministry is our calling and as we serve...

1. Remember our identity

I Peter 2:9-10

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession (a people belong to God), that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

2. Recognize our time

2 Tim 3:1-5

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

3. Remain in God's promise

Hebrews 10:36
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

4. Refocus on our calling

Luke 4:18-19

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Conclusion

Hebrews 6:10-12

10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
