In this tumultuous time, when fear is crippling our society, we are called to live a victorious life in Christ. In today's message we will continue to learn how to overcome fear by faith
Isaiah 43:1-3
But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God,the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
How does fear work against the believers?
1. Fear dominates in faithlessness
2. Fear enters through forgetfulness
3. Fear permeates through distraction
“He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Cor 15:57)
The only way to overcome fear is FAITH: Believe in...
1. God's Redemption "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2. God's Protection "When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."
3. God's Presence "I will be with you for I am the Lord your God,the Holy One of Israel, your Savior"
As we seek God's presence, we must embrace...
1. God’s Supremacy
Isaiah 42:8 "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.”
Colossians 1:15-20.
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God,the first born over all creation.16 For in him all things were created:things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;all things have been created through him and for him.17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.18 And he is the head of the body, the church;he is the beginning and the first born from among the dead,so that in everything he might have the supremacy.19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven,by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
“Man’s chief end is to glorify God”
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
2. God's Sovereignty
Romans 8:28
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Psalm 139
You have searched me,Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you,Lord, know it completely.
Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
3. God's Supervision
Psalms 31:3
For You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name's sake You will lead me and guide me.
Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.
I Peter 5:6
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight
