“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

The Purpose of I John: The Assurance of the New Birth 

TEN Evidences of the New Birth 

1. Those who are born of God obey His commandments. ( 1 John 2:3-4) 
2. Those who are born of God walk as Christ walked. ( 1 John 2:5-6) 
3. Those who are born of God don’t hate others but love them. ( 1 John 2:9) 
4. Those who are born of God don’t love the world. ( 1 John 2:15) 
5. Those who are born of God confess and embrace Jesus as the Son of God. ( 1 John 2:23) 
6. Those who are born of God practice righteousness. ( 1 John 2:29) 
7. Those who are born of God possess the Holy Spirit. ( 1 John 3:24_) 
8. Those who are born of God listen submissively to the apostolic Word. ( 1 John 4:6) 
9. Those who are born of God believe that Jesus is the Christ. (1 John 5:1) 
10. Those who are born of God overcome the world. ( 1 John 5:4)
